Reasons Why You Should Join the YCL
Britain's largest revolutionary youth organisation
Since its formation in the 1920s, the Young Communist League Party has insisted that working people can build a new type of and a better world. A society based on co-operation, common ownership, solidarity and peace.
The starting point is to mobilise young people in uniting our labour movement and progressive organisations to resist capitalist exploitation, oppression, fascism and war. And to win improvements and reforms for the youth and working people as a whole whenever possible.
The YCL organises itself as a disciplined force which working together with the Communist Party can contribute effectively to these efforts to advance socialist ideas and continue the struggle against capitalism, for socialism and communism.
We believe that the labour movement should fight for a Left Wing Programme which goes on the offensive, making inroads into the wealth and power of the capitalist monoploies. A democratic anti-monopoly alliance can be built through mass action and solidarity, led by the organised working class.
But to implement that programme and begin to change society fundamentally, that movement would have to take political power. It could then extend democratic public ownership and planning, break up the big monopolies and expand democratic rights in every sphere of society.
A left government based on mass participation and a Labour, socialist and Communist majority would persue an independent foreign and defence policy.
