Author: Communist Party congress: CPB delegates paid tribute to the staff of the Morning Star for their hard work and sacrifices in re-establishing deliveries to Scotland and parts of northern England on the day of publication.
"We've had five long years of getting the paper a day late or even worse," said Alan Marshall (Partick & Maryhill).
He reported on the regular successful conferences organised by the Scottish Morning Star campaign committee, pointing out: "Without the Morning Star, we would not be able to make the interventions we do in the labour, democratic and peace movements."
Martin Levy (Newcastle & Gateshead) said that deliveries had previously been erratic in north-east England, making it difficult to build on one-off distributions of 2,000 copies at the Durham Miners Gala, with the backing of Durham NUM.
Joel Heyes (Leeds) drew attention to Boris Johnson's cancellation of City Hall's Morning Star order on his first day as London mayor.
"At least it confirms who our enemies are," he commented.
Mr Heyes said that there had been an upsurge in street sales in a number of areas and plugged the forthcoming June 14 Yorkshire regional Morning Star conference in Leeds.
"It will be a great event, with people getting together, discussing together and raising money for the Morning Star," he declared.
