WORKSHOP: Is ALBA Transferable?

ALBA: the Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Cuba, Venezuela and other countries on the Latin American continent are rejecting the neo-liberal model of integration and development.

The Bolivarian Alternative for Latin America and the Caribbean (ALBA) is a different proposal of integration. Whilst the Free Trade Area of the Americas (ALCA or FTAA) responds to the interests of transnational capital and pursues the absolute liberalization of trade in goods, services and investment, ALBA puts the emphasis on the struggle against poverty and social exclusion and, therefore, it expresses the interests of the Latin American peoples.
