Marx for BeginnersAnimation from YouTubeA short cartoon (made in the 70's?) called "Marx for Beginners" showing some of the ways in which human society has organised itself through the ages. The working class man never gets his rise, the voice of the working class woman is constantly ignored (also visit Women, Race and Class). In Capitalism, the capitalist appears as a friendly figure ready to help, who knows the worker has nothing to sell but his "time" or labour power. The Capitalist almost seems to be doing the worker a favour in hiring him! "ask him where the profit comes from"......
Although at the beginning of this cartoon there is a remark about Marxism being complicated, the writings of Marx were actually widely read by the working class, empowering the ordinary workers who largely didn't have the chance of any formal higher education.... a great testament and encouragement to us all today to get reading! |
