In the run up to the Scottish Parliamentary and Council elections, BBC Scotland ran a series of "webcasts" where Maggie Sheils interviewed a plethora of prospective candiates.

Arguably saving the best till last, the Communist Candidate ended the series on May 2nd by stressing that the flag she was flying was not the Union Flag or any other, but rather the "red flag of the people"!

"You still have the fighting spirit in you. It's going to take some person to take YOU down, thats for sure! You're a fighter, there's no doubt about that! I've got to applaud that" concluded the interviewer.

Tackling local democractic concerns, factual evidence of modern Scottish life and taking head on racist attitudes - Elinor McKenzie showed the value of the clarity and depth of Communist analysis so sadly lacking in most mainstream media.
